Hello!
I just discovered that among my minor perks as a University employee is access to the film library, which includes some classics - Seven Samurai, Yojimbo, 47 Ronin, Sword of Doom. Great happiness here...! Some unfamiliar titles to me, too: anyone here familiar with the film "Jigokumon: Gate of Hell"? The director is Teinosuke Kinugasa.
Thanks in advance -
Joe Long

If the film "Gate Of Hell" is the one I'm thinking about it is one of the most beautifully shot works in Japanese cinema. The richness of the robes recalls Errol Flynn's 30's "Robin Hood." There is a national holiday in Japan in late summer devoted to cleaning ancestors' graves & preparing for the harvest and national tv showed "Gate Of Hell." Not a lot of action but a great look!

I believe “Gate of Hell” is a foreign best picture Oscar winner from the mid 1950s so it should be easy to find and rent.

Thanks for the tips, y'all - it's on my list to see, now, though not especially for the swordsmanship.
