Dogen Sangha will be hosting an annual zazen retreat (sesshin) from Sept 22-25 at Tokei-in in Shizuoka, a couple hours outside of Tokyo.
All, including beginners, are welcome.
The retreat will be lead by Brad Warner, author of Hardcore Zen and Sit Down and Shut Up.
For details please see:

Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed Brad Warner's book "Hardcore Zen" and recommend it to all.

Interesting glance into some aspects of Japanese culture even if Zen itself is 'not your thing'.

Just giving this a bump to remind folks about the retreat.

I've also got the second one, Sit Down and Shut Up, and like it, although the format is quite different than the first. Would love to make it there.... the danger is that if I got to Japan I might not leave. (Wife is Japanese, so no problem with visas.) Oh well, just need the website to start making oodles of money and it's hello Tokyo for us....

Anyway, Warner is a good author. Try reading his stuff, then combining it with something like The Unfettered Mind. Wiggy, but interesting.
