How many things can you spot that this guy did wrong?

John, what did he do wrong? And what do you think was the cause?

As soon as that rifle had a stoppage, he should have safetied, unloaded the magazine, cleared the chamber, inspected the chamber both visually and with a finger to see if the breech was blocked.

The kid unloaded, & cleared the chamber, but did not inspect the chamber or breech for blockages carefully enough. He just plonked the magazine back in pushed the forward assist charger and carried on his merry way.

Poor quality ammunition with bad powder quantities, leading to the round not being cycled as well maybe?

So you would at least agree that poor quality ammunication could have been a cause?

Another thing he did not do is to check the see if the barrel had a blockage. All he done was look in the breech and carried on. Maybe all above factors are considered, but it is also important to check down the barrel to see if a blockage has occoured.

Something similar happened to my brother in 1989 on a firing range in Catterick. Someone set the GPMG gas regulator to 0 so it could fire blanks. As it was a live fire it recoilled and done the same as in that video. He ended up with glass in his eye, some of which is still there today. He was lucky, his eye did not leak and his eyesight was saved. So to check fully your rifle ETC after it has been used is to always check for safety in case accidents like that may happen.

In the Army when we have jams like that we are to do what is called SPORTS, in the video I saw the kid at least once hit the forward asist before pulling on the chargeing handle to chamber a round. This could be a case of poor training and a lack of respect for his weapon.
