Greetings,

I'm in the middle of a paperback novel called "The Rift" by Walter J. Williams. The book is about the 'Great, 8.9 on the Richter scale, Earthquake' that happens sometime in the near future at New Madrid, Missouri. Its a decent read, with some really good spots and some 'yada-yada' areas.

I raise this querry as the end page mentions that the author"..has taught martial arts, small-boat sailing, and English grammar and composition." The accompanying photo shows a 40ish male with a hat, wearing a goatee.

I'm just curious, as I have never seen an author description on a work of fiction, not involving martial arts, described this way. Does anyone know this individual and has anyone studied with/under him and in what style?

Thanks,
TommyK
