I have recently been thinking about getting a tattoo. I have been looking at a number of Japanese characters on the net and have found one I like. According to the site it's translation was fighting spirit however when I went to look up the characters for fighting spirit in a Japanese/English online dictionary they were different. Can someone help me clarify this? The characters are under the Martial Arts section of artist Eri Takase's site. http://www.takase.com.
I know some symbols have more meanings in Japanese than most English words do so I was hoping someone here could translate them for me.

Cheers
Sammy

That's what it means, 'fighting spirit', it is made up of two Kanji:

“¬ Tou fighting, tataka(u) wage war; fight; engage in a contest; struggle against.

?° Kon. tamashii, tama soul, spirit

Don't know if there is any other meanings though. But I don't consider myself as knowing Japanese whatsoever.

Sincerely,
