Hi all,

I am looking for accurate historical information about Kano, both as it relates to Judo and other areas. If anyone has any recommendations of good books or other sources I would appreciate you thoughts. Thanks in advance for any help.

For an online history, and general, but very accurate, try Big Sky Judo at the University of Montana. Kim Sol, and son Michael run a great ship there, and also have a library of books on the subject. Prof. Kano wrote his own books way back, but a search for these will have to be done.

In the meantime, check Big Sky at http://www.bstkd.com/judo.htm

They are also receptive to people who are doing any kind of research in that area, so drop an email to them with your questions, or for recommendations for sources on him.

It may be worthwhile to check in at the Budokwai and Kano Society for articles, etc., and you can leave a post with your questions, too.
http://www.budokwai.org and http://www.kanosociety.org .

I have some information on Kano, so if you like, drop me a note, and I'll check to see what I do have. In the meantime, there are also some great articles at http://ejmas.com , Journal of Combative Sport, and Kronos, but you probably have all ready looked.;)

Will,
Here are some more direct links to history. http://www.bstkd.com/jobo1.htm

All right, I like this history, so sue me.:) This may help in deciding what books in which you have interest. There are 120 books listed here, and I think you may find one or two which would be what you need.

If you have all ready checked it out, well, never mind
