I noticed on the Nichibukan website (http://www.ny-jss.org/schedule.php) they have the dates set for the Atarashii Naginata seminar and tournament (March 25th and March 26th). I don't see much else up yet, but there is a page for the last one: http://www.ny-naginata.org/naginata/seminar2005/. I don't recall whether or not Tendo Ryu practices have generally been scheduled in conjunction with these in the past--it probably depends on who they have coming.

I've attended a couple of the Nichibukan Spring events, once as a participant, once to assist my teacher in a demonstration of Toda-ha Buko Ryu Naginata.

While some senior participants have both demonstrated and practiced Tendo Ryu, the focus of the event has been primarily Atarashii Naginata; it's a great opportunity for those interested to get a strong introduction to Atarashii Naginata with hands-on instruction from long-time practitioners and I would recommend without reservation on that basis.

Aside from the quality of the instruction, they're nice folks who are pleasant company, which is always a plus.

Best,

Our seminars typically focus entirely on atarashii naginata. This Spring seminar, as far as I know, will be no different.

I believe there will be a massed demonstration of Tendo Ryu at some point, but there will probably be no direct instruction of Tendo Ryu.

That said, we enthusiastically welcome beginners, so if you're in the area, come on by.
