If I am not mistaken ZNIR established their common kata set, called simply "toho", in 1956. I would like to know who was on the board and which schools they represented.

Later, around 1968-1969, the ZNKR assembled another group and established a new set of katas used within the kendo federation. I would like to know who was on that board and which schools they represented.

If anyone can confirm or correct the years and provide more exact dates that would be much appriciated too.

I can't help on the "who," but here's the "which" based on the sets:

Ippon me -- Maegiri: Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu
Nihon me -- Zengogiri: Mugai Ryu
Sanbon me -- Kiriage: Shindo Munen Ryu
Yohon me -- Shihogiri: Suio Ryu
Gohon me -- Kissakigaeshi: Hoki Ryu

Here I have a bit more data.

A committee was formed in 1967 with the following members:

Otani Kazuo, President, Zen Nippon Kendo Renmei
Masaoka Kazumi, Hanshi 9th Dan, Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu
Kamimoto Eiichi, Hanshi 9th Dan, Muso Shinden Ryu
Yamatsuta Jukichi, Hanshi 9th Dan, Muso Shinden Ryu
Danzaki Tomoaki, Hanshi 8th Dan, Muso Shinden Ryu
Sawayama Shuzo, Kyoshi 8th Dan, Hoki Ryu

This committee formulated the original seven forms of the ZNKR Seiteigata.

In 1977 another committee selected three more kata which were made official in 1980.

Those members were:

Hashimoto Masatake, Hanshi 9th Dan, Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu
Danzaki Tomoaki, Hanshi 9th Dan, Muso Shinden Ryu*
Kamimoto Eiichi, Hanshi 9th Dan, Muso Shinden Ryu*
Mitani Yoshisato, Hanshi 8th Dan, Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu
Wada Hachiro, Hanshi 8th Dan, Muso Shinden Ryu
Sawayama Shuzo, Kyoshi 8th Dan, Hoki Ryu*
Tsumaki Seirin, Hanshi 8th Dan, Tamiya Ryu

* Also sat on the 1967 committee

I do not have information on the members who selected the two most recent additions, which I believe became official in 2000.

If anyone can supply that (including name, grade, ryu, and the year they met if possible) I would be grateful.

Sometimes the search button and little patience can be very rewarding:

Is this specific to a certain type of training?
