Announcing: Daito-ryu in Philadelphia

Hello fellow budoka. Derek Steel here. I am a practitioner of Daito-ryu aikijujutsu, training since 1992 under Katsuyuki Kondo in Tokyo. I'm sure I've met a lot of you at Kondo sensei's various U.S. seminars over the years. I've recently relocated to Philadelphia, PA and would like to start a Daito-ryu study group in the area, and eventually a branch dojo. Mr. Steel, I am located in Southern New Jersey, and would like to know where you will be conducting the study group. I do know there is another group in northern NJ, but it is quite a ride for me.

Yep, I'm finally back, ready to rock and roll! I trust you all have been holding down the fort while I've been gone? I'm really looking forward to getting a few lads (or lasses, of course) together here in Philly to swap a few chops with. Or let me put that more formally: "...to continue practicing the fine art of Daito-ryu." If you know anyone in this area interested in such arcane things, please let them know that I'm getting this off the ground and would be happy to hear from them. Ditto for the Shinto Muso-ryu jo.

Just a quick note to say that I am now conducting morning Daito-ryu aikijujutsu classes in Center City Philadelphia. 7:30AM-8:45, Tuesdays and Thursdays, at the Aikikai of Philadelphia (2100 Chestnut St., 2nd Floor). Any and all are welcome to drop in for a look, to train a little, or just to say hello.

The other mornings we train in Shinto Muso-ryu jo, usually outdoors in a different location near the Schuylkill River.
