I can't recommend anyone personally, but if your goal is to get Japanese rather than Zen, check http://www.najc.ca/nexus , as it gets you into Canada's Nikkei community pretty fast.

For Buddhist links online, try http://www2.uncwil.edu/iabs/vl

The Zen Centre of Vancouver is at http://www.vcn.bc.ca/zen/

Mister Svinth, do you know of any Zen teachers/ masters/ schools in the greater metropolitan area of Seattle?
I'm actually kind of put off by buddhism, but for some reason, Zen appeals to me. I suppose that may seem contradictory, but in any event, I would like to learn more about it.

Although I know a number of Pure Land Buddhists, I can't say that I know any practicing Zennists. And with good reason -- "Beer is," is about as profound as my friends usually get. See for example, http://faculty.washington.edu/kendo/beer.html .

Nevertheless, I asked my ol' pal Google, and thereby turned up some websites that should provide you with some phone numbers and such.

There are also Zen centers out of town. See, for example, http://www.dmoz.org/Society/Religion_and_Spirituality/Buddhism/Zen/Centers/United_States/Washington and http://www.iijnet.or.jp/iriz/irizhtml/centers/usaNW.htm

Good luck, and gassho!

Thank you very much. Dai Bai Zan Cho Bo Zen Ji appears to be in my neighborhood. I'm going to go check out the introduction night next time I have a Tuesday night off from work. It looks like this is about what I was looking for.
