Hi -
I'm looking for a set of three books by Enoeda about advanced shotokan kata. I have seen them on amazon for no less than $54.00 each! Does anyone know of any other source of this set - they might have been published in England as he lived there for some time (from what I've heard).
Thanks, all.

Still can't locate Vol. 2 though - it may just be out of print completely, but my Internet-Search No Jutsu hasn't been exhausted quite yet :D

Good news, bad news:

Bad news is that you need to be able to read Russian.
Good news is that the list price of 350 rubles per book is roughly $14.30 at current exchange rates - so unless they charge out the nose for international shipping, best deal around.

Thanks again, Jim, your kindness knows no bounds! But nyet, I cannot speak or read Russian. My sensei will be pleased that I can obtain the books and it's always good to please the sensei!

Ha! I knew that self-awarded 7th dan in Google-Yahoo Ryu wasn't worthless :D
Glad to be of help and good luck in your training!

Enoeda Sensei did live in England for a long time (from about 1966 until his death I think). He drove a distinctive yellow Beetle and he played golf a lot.
I've seen his books around in shops in Manchester. Maybe you could try main British book retailers like Waterstones.

I have all 3 volumes in english. Their in pretty good shape too. I sold off some books a while ago, & this was a set that I was gonna keep, as they are hard to find. However, if you are seriously interested in getting an english set, please PM me.

Yes, thank you, Simon! I'll look into that. :)

good books. However, Enoeda apparently put his own personal kata interpretations (with the occasional modification and changed technique) into the book. I have seen several shotokan guys complaining that its not the "normal" shotokan versions of the katas.

Normal? What is that?

Good question I guess.
In this case the JKA grading version. Or what most would consider the JKA grading version.
