I recently stumbled across some pictures (http://picasaweb.google.com/mvilenius/KobudoTaikaiCMVilenius#) of a kobudo demonstration and I noticed that there is quite a bit of overlap between members of these particular ryuha. Does anyone know if they are practiced in conjunction with each? Or is there some other explanation for this?

Thanks in advance.

Hello Mr. Luz-Alterman,

The 11th generation head of the Muhi Muteki ryū, Ōuchi Fujijirō Tadanobu, was also the 9th generation head of the (Iga Ryūha) Katsushin ryū. At some point in the history both schools moved to Mito area in Ibaraki, where they are still being practiced.

I have no information how the training is organized between these two styles in the present day. Maybe Mr. Steve Delaney can enlighten us, if he happens to notice this thread.

Hope this helps!

Thanks!

If anyone has any info on when these ryuha were created or how they are currently practiced, I'd be interested. I noticed that the tsuba on the bokken of Muhi Muteki-ryu appear to be made of two pieces of wood, one circular and one square. Does anyone know about this?

Many thanks,
