Thanks Rob, that prompted a little wander through YouTube for me... such fun. A lot of new clips since I last looked. This one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tD4f_rEPwE4&feature=related) is an 8mm silent home movie taken in 1975 when they were filming at Hombu for the movie known in the West as "The Killing Machine". Hombu has less buildings than now, and SO Doshin is seen mucking about with Sonny Chiba.

There is a clip of a Hombu display team Demo filmed in China (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fZupt9GsrE&feature=related) - which the Chinese TV channel has added sound effects to, along with an English language commentary - can anyone catch the Chinese pronunciation of SO Doshin's name here? Sounds something like Sung Tao Chen. How about a date for when Kawashima Sensei was 5th Dan?

My personal favourite today was this one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9LecIm8x1uE&feature=related), which is a pretty, gentle and innoccuous look at a rather beautiful actress named TODA Erika, who lists Shorinji Kempo as her speciality. OK, so it doesn't actually show her doing any Shorinji Kempo, but then, Shorinji Kempo should be part of our daily lives, right? And if she can look pretty while dipping her hand in a pond AND be thinking about Shorinji Kempo, then that's a good thing, right! :) and of course, if you look further, you always find something worth sharing :D like this TV Ad she did for a snack (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvNOm-zfOFI&NR=1).

The characters for So Doshin (宗道臣) are pronounced Zōngd`aochén in Chinese.* And the commentator didn't exactly get the pronounciation perfect.

*The ` is supposed to be on top of the "a" but the forum software seems to be messing that up. :(

Thanks Jan. Which type of text did you put that in? My screen is showing certain graphic characters instead, so perhaps I need to load a special font.

Everything should be viewabe doing the same.

Gassho!

I really liked the embu shown in the videoclip.

My instructor in the 80:s Leif Larsson told me that there are good instructors, very good instructors and then we have Nakano sensei.:D
