Does anyone know where it is possible to have a hand made Japanese Katana made for yourself and what kind of price would I be looking at if I were to have one made.
I'm not thinking of buying one soon, but probably in a couple of years. I just thought I'd start trying to find somewhere that could make me my own sword, therefore making it unique and I want to have it made properly by a proper Japanese swordsmith.
Thanks if anyone can advise me...

try http://www.tozando.com looking in the Shinsakuto section under Swords.
I'm sure there are others around offering custom shinken as well.

Well, there are plenty of stores out there. I would suggest you also go ask the same question on http://www.swordforum.com, on the Nihonto forum. I also suggest that you check Rich Stein's site at http://japanesesword.homestead.com/ - probably the most comprehensive site on Nihon-to's on the net, and he's got tons of links. Below are an additional few links for your enjoyment. Please note that I cannot recommend those businesses except Aoi ( just bought something from them - all went fine), but I like to check them out. I would **strongly** recommend that you buy a few books before buying anything...
Aoi Art: http://www.aoi-art.ab.psiweb.com/index.html (in Japan)
Fred Weissberg's store: http://www.nihonto.com/itemsaleswords.html
Alfred Tan's store: http://www.japanesesword.com/
http://www.samurai-arts.com/swd-catalog.html (v. small selection)
well-link.com/Swords/sword_home.html (in Japan, requires registration)
http://www.sanmei.com/tokugawa.html (in Japan, requires registration)
Cheers,
