Hi, I am writing an artifact report for an anthropology course. Could somebody point me towards yoroi sources (books, journal articles, websites) written in English?

Sources that deal with the yoroi's cultural/symbolic significance would be a bonus, but perhaps that's asking a bit too much... :p

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Google.

Right off the bat it leads me to places such as http://www.nosyuiaido.com/yoroi.htm .

Books by Turnbull and Bottomley, Osprey Militaria, etc. Check the thread on flags and you'll get bibliographic guidance.

A website with many good links on a variety of arms & armor subjects: http://therionarms.com/links.html

Thank you for the great links.

But I can't find the flag thread....

Well, if that posting has gone to electron heaven (I didn't see it either), no problem -- try some of these:

Bottomley, Ian and Anthony Hopson. Arms & Armour of the Samurai (New York: Crescent Books, 1988)

Bryant, Anthony J. and Angus McBride. Early Samurai 200-1500 AD (London: Osprey Publishing, 1991)

Turnbull, Stephen. The Lone Samurai and the Martial Arts (London: Arms and Armour Press, 1990); see also the author’s website, http://freespace.virgin.net/stephen.turnbull/publications.htm
-----. Ninja: The True Story of Japan’s Secret Warrior Cult (Poole, Dorset, UK: Firebird Books, 1991)
-----. Samurai Warriors (London: Blandford Press, 1987)
----- and Richard Hook. Samurai Armies 1550-1615 (London: Osprey Publishing, 1979)

Good sources for reference, but I think trying to locate a copy of Ninja the true story by turnbull would now prove difficult as it's currently out of print.

Mr.Svinth & Mr.Chang, the flags thread is in the "History and Traditions" section. You have to go back about 30 days. It's called something like "Takeda clan flags".
