Just wondering if anyone on here is from Minnesota and has any information about TMA/Koryu Schools around here? To be blunt I have checked out ALOT of places and it either has "faulty" Lineage or is Gendai Aikido or Karate.

Thanks for any information!!

There's an old thread here about this very subject.

http://www.e-budo.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27664

There is an additional thread at Kendo World:

http://www.kendo-world.com/forum/showthread.php/6890-Moving-back-to-MN-want-to-teach-Iaido

And that teachers website:

http://www.musoshindenryu.com/

I don't know anyone there personally, but I hope this information helps!

Thanks!

Yes, I found those other threads was just looking for something more current.

I will look it up. The only issue is I live in the Twin Cities and Fargo is about a 3-4 Hr Drivve. Thanks for the info!

Edit: I was also wondering if the Mutokai Sword Club is somewhere up and running? I have not heard about them for awhile.

Hello Mr. Larson.

I was just looking at your avatar and was wondering if you could explain the kamon. It is very unusual and I was hoping that you could explain its use and possible origin.

Thank you in advance for the information.

Not much has really changed in the Twin Cities since those threads. The Mutokai tends to be pretty quiet but they run out of the Twin Cities Aikido Center, so contacting them is probably the best way to get in touch. I know the Toyama-ryu group in the Twin Cities has brought in koryu sensei at least a couple of times over the years, but I am not sure whether they have formed formal relationships with those sensei or if they were just one time deals.

Best regards,

The kamon crest was one of the symbols that was displayed in an old school of mine. In the center is the Mitsu Domoe/Mitsutomoe (However you want to spell it or say it) and from my own personal research that symbol can be associated with Hachiman (Japanese God of War) or the three markings are meant to represent Humanity-Earth-Heaven.

As for the outer symbol it looks familiar to the Oda Clan Crest. I was looking for a good Mitsu Domoe avatar and that was the first one (that I liked) to pop up.

I could be wrong but thats the best information, to my knowledge, I could give someone. Please correct me if I am mistaken.

Thanks to everyone else for the info!

Does any one know anything about Shoshin Ryu? While were at it? It looks like a remade Jujutsu that is very similar to Karate.

I tried getting ahold of the Mutokai but their phone number has changed!

Thanks in advance for info on Shoshin Ruy.
