Can anyone suggest a dojo in Columbia S.C. for my college aged son.

Not interested in Brazilian - but something more traditional.

Thanks

Hi Larry,

This dojo is about 20 minutes from Columbia, S.C. Prof. Ryan teaches Danzan Ryu Jujutsu and also houses some other styles at his place.

There are plenty of Judo schools (look for a traditional Judo school). It's great training for any future Jujitsu student. Judo provide the basic of jujitsu. Aikido is next after Judo because it enhances the person's ability to understand jujitsu.
Both Judo and Aikido came from traditional Jujitsu which was used by a Samurai with a sword before the 1880's in Japan.
There is a movie on DVD with Tom Cruise called, "The Last Samurai".
Aikido and Judo were blended together to help a Samurai fight with his sword during battle.
Most Jujitsu schools are involved in adding Mix Martial Arts into their curriculum to supplement the absence of a Samurai sword. Without a sword, Jujitsu is boiled down to a survival moment for the Samurai.
Judo as a martial art is good for any person who want to learn self defense.
Most martial arts are boiled down to Judo throws and Aikido Joint locking techniques and throws.
