Martell's Ju Jutsu simplified. 1944.2d printing.Fascinating WW II era book by a guy that supposedly beat Japanese champion "Yamahiati" in Seattle in 1917. A chapter is titled: "Uncovering the "Mystic" Jap" to get a feel for what the copy is like. Also warns to "guard yourself accordingly" from the "dirty black out trick," which apparently is throwing something in the opponent's eyes.

Jiu-Jitsu: the Japanese Art of Wrestling and Self Defense Illustrated.Muscle Science or Tricks of Jiu-Jitsu. Unknown author or date, shows a Japanese guy doing techniques in a suit, so early vintage, probably 30s or 40s. $25

Contains the very useful technique "Arresting a Policeman," which begins: "Some time it may become necessary to arrest a policeman; and in that event, all you have to do is carry out the following instructions with celerity and precision."
