I was just curious about the name of the kata you performed from the second MPEG in your dojo's library. I know the first one is Shodan No Kata, correct? Thank you!

Hi,

Actually, those MPEG's that I put up are specifically for the purpose of providing a motion sample of each of the five major areas of study in Shinkendo. In fact, I threw them together rather hastily before the e-budo spotlight with Obata Kaiso.

Names were not used, and most techniques were either slightly modified or performed incompletely in order to disuade viewers from using them as an instructional tool in place of an instructor. Those that do can of course be easily identified! :)

As simply an introduction to the art for those that have not seen it, the MPEG's appear to be serving their purpose, judging from the feedback.

FWIW, upon showing Obata Kaiso the MPEG's, he expressed an interest in recording some MPEG's of himself for our home page, but I don't know how high a priority that project is right now, or what the nature of the MPEG's will be (another reason why I put something quick up in the meantime).

But I suspect he would also not be comfortable with providing unmodified forms on the net, though.

I hope they are interesting anyway!

It may just be with me, but I am getting an "unknown host" error (500) on all links to http://www.shinkendo.com . Is the site down for repairs, or did I enter at a bad time (3:00AM EST)?

Wow, something went pretty south on the server I guess. It was up yesterday morning.

Hello,

The shinkendo.com service is back up again as of this morning! Sorry for any inconvenience.

I am going to begin transferring the pages soon to a new server (both our ISF/AB page and my own dojo page), so there may be a period of instability as we make the transition - just as a warning.
