Yagyu Shinkage Ryu in East Texas

I am searching for a Yagyu Shinkage Ryu dojo in East Texas. To the best of my knowledge the only place for study in the United States is New York. Does anyone know anywhere closer to study?

Any help or suggestions on this or other reputable dojos in the area would be appreciated.

Being such a big state, I don't know if it's "in the area" or not, but John Ray Sensei in Denton teaches Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iaido at the Denton Dojo.

The Yamato Yagyu-kai has it's USA branch in Philadelphia, but they have "study groups" scattered about as well. You might try contacting them to see if there's anything remotely close to you.

Thanks Josh. I was wondering if Mr. Jamsek was still teaching in Austin. I met him when we were both doing demonstrations at the last San Antonio sword show in either 1999 or 2000.

Hi, I trained in owari yagyu shinkage ryu for a little in dublin texas witch is about two hour drive away form Dallas, I'm not sure if it is east texas, sorry my sense of direction is not good. He may be very selective of his students, I may be wrong. I no longer go there for several reasons. "East" Texas is VERY wide spread. Can you be a little more specific so folks can help you out?

It's easy Robert ... east Texas is the green part, west Texas is the brown part, hill country is the middle, south Texas means below San Antonio, and north Texas means Dallas. :)

The only thing Paul - I live in what is considered "Deep" East Texas! Although, it is green here...
