The late Seikichi Uehara of Motobu Udundi seemed to usually wear white gloves for his kobudo demos. Anyone know why? Any other tradition (besides western sport fencing) use gloves in weapons practice? I have seen people frequently use white cotton gloves when examining rare and antique weapons, but seems different for practice.

Dear Reinhardt Sensei,
Thank you for the info. I actually saw Uehara Sensei demo once in the 1980. On another site I saw where one of Uehara Sensei's student said the gloves where just to keep the hands from slipping.Okinawa is a warm humid place and Uehara Sensei did a lot of outdoor demos, so it does make sense.

Hi Mr McCoy,

I'm glad it helped you, but I'm no Sensei, just Carina.
