Hello Carina,
Did any of your teachers have a connection with Yamaguchi Seigo Shihan?

Yes, my sensei Manuel is student of César Febles who got this year the 6 Dan and César is student of Franck Noel shihan who was student of Yamaguchi Seigo shihan together with Christian Tissier Shihan.
Here a video of Franck Noel

Hello Carina,
I know Christian Tissier well and I have met Mr Noel a few times. I remember that he and I once took the same class at the Hombu. The teacher was Doshu Kisshomaru Ueshiba. For some reason the article reminded me of the times I used to train with Yamaguchi Shihan.
Best wishes,

Hello Prof Goldsbury
Both Christian Tissier as well as Franck Noel were also students of Yamaguchi Shihan, I found the interview I was looking for only in spanish or french, but I think you may understand that Noel Shihan says in it, that he trained between 1972 and 1980 in the Hombu Dojo with Kisshomaru Doshu and all the other Senseis there and mainly with Yamaguchi Shihan

Well, when I came to Japan in 1980, I came to live here in Hiroshima. It is quite a long way from Tokyo (800-900 km), so I do not go there particularly frequently. I used to go more frequently, when I was younger, and also trained at the Hombu Dojo, like Mr Noel. I also attended the classes of Yamaguchi Shihan and Tada Shihan, but they both visited Hiroshima quite regularly. I was recommended to seek out these shihans by my teacher in the UK. I pretty well agree with everything that Mr Noel states in the interview (though there is a little missing in the French version).

Hello Prof Goldsbury,
Thank you for sharing your interesting experiences.
It says a lot about your desire to learn and train, that you did 800-900 km to the Hombu Dojo :)
