Hi Gian,

There is no connection between Yoshin ryu (not talking about Hontai Yoshin ryu) and the Takagi ryu variants. The only thing that I could find in common is the name (Yoshin).

As for the Takagi variants, most of the kata have the same name but are done slightly different. On some occations they are completely different. Two branches, both from the Mizuta line, do not have Kukishin Ryu Bojutsu included in their curriculum.

Even the name "Yoshin" have different meanings within the Takagi variants. For example, the Mizuta lines use the Kanji "Raising the Heart", and others use the "Willow Heart" Kanji.

There is one branch that does not include the "Takagi" or the "Yoshin" name.

Here are some of the branches:

Hontai Yoshin Ryu Jujutsu (Kakuno line)
Takagi Ryu Jujutsu (Kakuno line)
Hontai Takagi Yoshin Ryu Jujutsu (Mizuta line)
Hontai Takagi Yoshin Ryu Jutaijutsu (Mizuta line)
Hontai Yoshin Takagi Ryu Jujutsu (Ishitani line)
Muso Shingetsu Yanagi Ryu
