Hello,

At the end of November 2015 a memorial for G. Funakoshi (1868–1957) was inaugurated after it moved to a new location in Okinawa. Participants of the ceremony were among others K. Tsuyama of the recently founded AJKS, and T. Sasagawa (born in 1935; the gentleman in blue on the photo). T. Sasagawa is the director of the JKF, the umbrella organisation for sports karate in Japan which seeks Olympic recognition. He is also the director of the AJKF. Because G. Funakoshi was against sportive competitions in karate there is some irony included …

This is a photo of the ceremony:

That is nothing new. JKA upheld many things Gichen Funakoshi didn't teach. :)

I always enjoyed comparing the original Karate-Do Nyumon and Karate-Do Kyohan with the updates.

Hello,

Yes, that's true. For me the problem is that as time passes it becomes more and more difficult to differentiate ...

Things change. They evolve.

Those who continue to train win out in the end.
