Hi everyone

This may or may not be the place to post this but I am sure that there is going to be some on both sides of the fence on this one. As you all probably have heard by now, Karate has been picked to be in the 2020 Olympics In Japan. This will be the first time it will have been put in the Olympics by any country. But, the other day, I read in my paper that France has left it out of it's list for the 2024 Olympics in France. Any thoughts on this? Should Karate be in the Olympics at all? Here in Japan, it seems that everyone was pretty hyped about it's inclusion in the Olympics but now are baffled since it's seemingly exclusion. France being one o the world powerhouses in this art, you would think they would include it again.

Hello,

Back in 1935 G. Funakoshi wrote that his karate can not be transformed into sportive tournaments nor commercialized activities. So, I guess that his karate would have nothing to do with the Olympic movement.

Hello Mr. Wittwer

I am sure, back in the day, Budo was never thought of a sport nor ever becoming one. I think along the same way but in Japan it is regarded as a sport to many, as well as many still train and regard it as a way of life.
