I am no longer getting e-mail notices about answers to threads I've subscribed to.

I've changed nothing and I checked - I am still subscribed to the threads.

Is it just me the Gods are frowning on?

It's not you, nor the Gods, unless one of them got into the software.

No-one is getting notices, but it is a problem which is being attended to, so it is just temporary. I'm afraid you may have to enter by the front door for a while.:)
