Hello there,
I'm wondering can anyone tell me more about Sunonoma salad and how to make the dressing?
Thanks,
Alacoque Meehan

"Sunomono" (not "sunonoma") means "vinegared things" and refers to a Japanese salad that almost always has wakame and thinly sliced Japanese cucumbers as the main ingredients, but also often contains octopus or crab meat or shrimp.

As far as the dressing goes, it obviously has vinegar in it (Japanese rice vinegar), and I'm pretty sre the dressing also contains soy sauce and dashi. I'll have to ask my wife.

I live for this stuff. (Well, after Korean BBQ ribs (kar bee, is it?), tempura ice cream and creme brulee...)

I was at Thai restaurant recently that served sunomono and called it "Thai salad." It had tiny slices of onion in with the cucumber slices. Anyone heard of that for the Thai's? It was the first I'd seen it outside of a Japanese restaurant.
