Just got this email today....

Does anyone out there know what's going on with Century conspiring to put NAPMA
out of business? NAPMA offered Century the IKON line to produce and distribute.
Century didn't just say "NO!" but their response was, "Do it and we'll put you
out of business."

Why are they so scared of NAPMA? Their just selling to their members. Now, century
is launching a NAPMA "Me Too" magazine and "Me Too" NAPMA. They've created the
"Martial Arts Industry Association" headed up by a Fred Silverman from Florida.
How can a gear company have an "industry association?" The ATA has offered its
own equipment for years. Why not go after them? NAPMA has been great for my school.

I don't spend my money with Century so they can play bully to a good organization.
It reeks of the mafia and Microsoft rolled into one. Whatever money they hope
to make with this will be lost by people like me who don't appreciate this bully
crap. Does anyone else have more information about this?

I've created a forum at Yahoo to voice our concerns. The link is: http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/martialartsbusinesstopics

Thanks for your time and I deeply apologize if any of you received this in error.

I also received this and replyed that it's simply business. Both organizations primary objective is profit. Century feels NAPMA's biting into their turf, NAPMA wants to expand their market. No Brainer here.

The strange thing is, when NAPMA first got off the ground, their MAPro magazine was so full of Century advertising -- and even featured a column by the company president -- that I mistakenly assumed the whole thing was a Century effort.
