Hey all, I recently switched from training in Shorin-Ryu to Goju-Ryu, im very happy with the switch, and thus far ive learned Seiunchin, I would like to see some other Goju kata performed, does anyone know of a place on the net with clips of any Goju kata? I would into buying videos, but im far too poor for that right now.

thanks.

Zach-san,

You might find this site useful. They are of the Seigokan versions of the Gojuryu kata.

Thank you, but the hyperlinks dont seem to work, there were no links on the kata page as far as I could tell, just kanji and english names of kata, did I miss something?

Hello, there is a clip of Meitatsu Yagi performing Seiunchin Kata,
I'm not sure how he spells it, there are many variations of the
spelling. If I come across anymore, I post the address to it.

You can also try:
http://www.everyware.ch/rkonopka/Shobukan/shobukan.html

it is in german, but follow the kata link and you will find a list of Goju katas, most of them also has videos of the katas done at a competition.

A bit off-topic, but since you ask.
Try downloading and installing the indeo codec pack from:
http://www.ligos.com/index.phtml?pi=103&n1=products&n2=indeo&n3=download

And try viewing them in M.Player again. I have no trouble with them, but I have quite a lot of codecs installed, so Im not sure which one does the trick :-)

Right on, got them working, thats exactly what I was looking for. I don't know how big of a difference the kata displayed are from Jundokan versions, but the ones I do know looked pretty similar. Thanks again, Martin, that was a big help.

If you are still looking for info on John Kuhl look at what Steven Malanoski wrote in the karate section under USA Goju. I think someone els asked the same question and got what they were looking for.

Besides, this section of pages is dedicated to Ryukyan Unarmed Martial Arts. I heavily doubt that neither Combat Karate (gimme a break) nor USA Goju are a part of this. Please, keep these things on a "karate" -section, there the atmosphere is more free to modern spinoffs and newborn styles as well.

Here the thing is what it is: Classic ryukyuan unarmed fighting systems. Part of them is okinawan karate, but other "karate" should be discussed elsewhere.
