Read the article on Mehdi and then the article titled "Then came Rorion." The others are good but this is pretty good balance including the retelling of the Helio Gracie/Masahiko Kimura match you should find a link to.

YAMANTAKA : I didn't like that page but I agree with you, these parts are reasonably good and well-balanced. Also, it's the first time I read a cool appraisal of the Kimura x Gracie fight : a very bad fight with very poor technique. Kimura made the mistake of accepting rules that favoured BJJ (throws got fewer points than groundwork) but even so Hélio losed and ungraciously at that. When Kimura got him in an armlock, Hélio stubbornly refused to concede defeat and had his arm broken. That was not bravery. It was sheer stupidity.

Yes, I agree that it wasn't the best, and in fact, the articles them selves were not written all that well, but I thought the two recommended articles (recommended to me, anyway) were, at least, an honest approach.
