Hello, I was wondering if anybody in this forum has any links to useful websites regarding martial arts safety.
In particular, mats. Our Budo Taijutsu class is provided to the public by means of the local university's Continuing Education system. Our classes are held in a spare gymnasium.
The Director of Physical Education has decided that the mats we used all summer are a safety hazard to others because they do not fold up into neat stacks (they're wrestling mats), even though nobody uses this gym and even though the volleyball poles and portable soccer goals take up much more room. We have been required to remove the mats from the school, and in place of these quality mats, we were given antiquated gymnastics mats of much lower surface area, suitable for tumbling or stretching exercises.
Anyhow, if anyone has any good references that I could use in my letter to the dean, I would be most appreciative.
