How about this one?

Some patterns seem a bit complicated but still look pretty cool.
My favorite pattern that I stitched on my kimono is a sky view bunch of 2-D pyramids that touch together on each side. The easiest way to do it is to draw rows and rows or them. One pointing up and the other pointing down and up again and down again. It is very hard to explain, so I will attempt to draw it here.

Well that attempt failed but you get the point.
Just draw a triangle with a line going from the corners to connecting at the middle. Then put a bunch of them together side to side.
Its a really nice pattern.
Good luck with your project.

Try this page for instructions on making a kimono:

http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Troy/5187/kimono.html

I have made a couple of yukata from a pattern I bought from a company called Folkwear Patterns and they turned out really nice. You can find them at www.folkwear.com/ They also have a Japanese peasant costume pattern and Japanese interior pattern. They aren't download-able, but they are good patterns.

Also, there is a book that has detailed diagrams and instructions for making Japanese clothing (including tabi) called Make Your Own Japanese Clothes by John Marshall. You can order it from Amazon.com or Barnes & Nobel.

Good luck.

Tami
