View Full Version : Koto Eiri Ryu, or Ko To Ei Re Ryu?

I am trying to find out the history of Koto Eiri ryu. I saw it in a list spelled this way, and described as mutiple-attacker training in kenjutsu.

I am currently in a school of Ko To Ei Re Ryu, which is iaido and bo training, with Canbara recently added.

Are these ryu connected or the same? Who founded this ryu, and what did it branch from? I am wondering if the style I'm studying is a legitimate koryu or an american interpretation of something else.

This is important to me to know. Am I studying an authentic tradition, that in ten years will be recognizable to dan from other ryu? Or will I be well-trained in a severed branch of something, and need years of unlearning bad habits to rank in any ryu?

Apparently, the name means,"the difference between light and dark when you snuff out a candle." Anybody speak Japanese?

Thankyou so much for any information, or perspective ...
