I'm thinking about signing up for this qigong course, but I was wondering if someone with more experience knew whether it was "legit":

Hi Jason.

Personally, I would refrain from studying any type of Qi-Gong from Books or Tapes.

Rather look for a trained Instructor in your area.
Most CMA Teachers or even Chinese Doctors know quiet a bit of Qi-Gong.

Not seeing much on the site as such, it looks and feels like it might be "8 Brocade Silk Qi-Gong".
One of the oldest (if not) the oldest Qi-Gong Exercise, also one of the easiest to learn and master for the newcomer to Qi-Gong.

Or it could be based on the Ruler System., also used by some Tai Chi Systems.

As for being legit, I guess anybody could read the following Books:
Bone marrow cleansing techniques.
Muscle changing techniques

On which most of todays Qi-Gong exercises are based.

But this won't make you qualified to teach and correct Students in their use of Qi-Gong.
Back to why I wouldn't study from Books/Tapes.
1.) Qi-Gong if done incorrectly can damage your Body and mind.
2.) A lot of those require Herbs and other TCM supplements to work.

Said that it is not all that difficult to
study Qi-Gong and get certified.

*Believe* me, gentlemen, if there were a qualified instructor in my area, I would be studying under him. Unfortunately, Missouri is not big on qigong--perhaps St. Louis or KC, but I'm in the only sizeable town between the two, and there is *nothing*. I'm really open to recommendations; I'd like to introduce qigong to the area.
