I've been practicing kendo for about six months now, using a club set of bogu. With my own bogu due to arrive in another two to four weeks, I was wondering if anyone had an odor prevention strategy or two that he'd be willing to share. I'd like to keep my own set from getting as ripe (or even half as ripe, whew :eek ) as the set I've been using.

There are sprays you can buy. Not that they work too well. Main thing is to make sure you dry it out well in between practices.

another thing that works really well is to take cheesecloth and put some baking soda in it, its porous enough to let moisture seep thru but won't spill the contents. Seal it up, and place them inside the bogu (quick note, this keeps karate sparring equipment from getting ripe too) BUT make sure that you seal the cheesecloth up tight! Theres nothing worse than getting that powder all in your stuff!@
