Hello all,

I would like to thank everyone who helped me find a kendo dojo. Luckly for me it also teaches Iaido which i was also looking for. But i was wondering if it was any good because i have heard that some of them can't be very good. It is a memeber of the AUSKF, the IKF, and the GNUSKF. There home page is http://www.kendoka.org/. Any info will be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks,
Kyle Christy

When I opened up your link, I started laughing to myself. (It would have been out loud, but I'm in a computer lab.) I was expecting the link to be to a club with a yondan head instructor, and it turns out to be Kato sensei's dojo. Yeah, you're at an okay club.

Shidogakuin is Kato-sensei's organisation, he's a well-respected instructor out of New York who has previously been the US national team coach. Kato-sensei has a string of affiliated dojos along the east coast of the US. You didn't say which dojo you were at, obviously if you are in New York you'll get the benefit of Kato-sensei's instruction quite often, if you're someplace else he comes in for seminars every few months. I met him when I was visiting DC last year, he seems like a good fellow, certainly his kendo is very strong.

The Miami Dojo would actually be led by Mr. Mike Meade. He is a very good Kenshi as I have had the opportunity to train with him in the past. Tell Mike that I will kick his butt next time I see him :D
