I think the tone of the article is somewhat sarcastic, but I may be misreading it. I think the idea is a good one, but I believe the journalist could have presented it in a better manner.

No, haven't read it yet. Are you sure you're not confusing Heckler and the other gentleman who wrote a book about teaching Aikido to SF troops? (I can't remember his name; I'm sure somebody will come up with it!)
