Hi All,

A couple of questions if i may:

1. Is there anywhere in Europe where one can purchase either wooden Naginata or the shinai type Naginata (sorry, don't know correct terms)?

2. Is there anywhere where one can buy display weapons only? I've seen some nice looking weapons such as the 'Helmet Breaker'and Jutte. I was wondering if there are display only, not training weapons about - i wouldn't want to use 'em but they sure look nice :D .

Thanks,

James Farthing

Kim Taylor makes naginata in Canada. You can take a look at his stuff at http://ejmas.com/ejmasequip.htm . He might know someone closer, but I'd guess that most of Britain's weapon-grade timber comes from Canada, Scandinavia, or Russia, and so could be somewhat pricey.

Hello !
I think you might want to get in contact with Paul Richardson from Lincoln UK. He sells wooden Naginatas, Yaris and Bokkens of good quality.
The Url of the dojo is : http://www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Dojo/5609/

Hope this helps

A number of people on the net sell the more exotic koryu weapons, including jutte, kabutowari, and tessen. Most of them are not stricly display items (I know the ones I sell aren't).

The main problem with naginata and shinai naginata is shipping them overseas. I can get them, the problem is that shipping is more than the cost of the items.

I have been very pleased with the naginata I purchased from the Buki Co. at http://www.concentric.net/~bukico/dojoweb3.htm.
