Dear all,
What is the best way to build self-confidence?

Conquer difficult obstacles. Boot camp, weight-lifting, shiai, college thesis, marathons, etc. The object is not so much to best others, but to do better than you ever thought you could. Constantly beat your personal best, and overcome that which few can. Personally-imposed shugyo is great for this.
Failing that, pick the biggest, scariest guy you know and punch him out. That'll boost self-confidence, at least until he comes to and gets his bearings.

Confront your fears and overcome them.

Jody,
I don't believe for a second that you don't feel not-confident ALL the time. Think about times/situations where you do feel confident. How are they different from times when you don't?
What are YOU doing differently then? How you choose to feel is more under your control than you now maybe think.

As was said earlier, confront your fears. This is by far the best way that I have found for me. Once conquered, I find that what I was afraid of tends to be either, very silly, or the fear turns into respect. Learning to respect rather than fear is one thing that will let you earn self confidence. Earn. It's not free.

Focus on your accomplishments and keep accomplishing. Other than that don't accept second best from yourself! These 2 will boost your confidence.
