Could any of you send me some good links to sites about the origin of Aikikia? I read someplace that it is based from a Prince who watched spiders roll up their prey in webbing. I guess much like the various Kung Fu animal styles. Any clarity would be appreciated.

And BTW Jill and I are going to sit in tonight at a local Aikikia class. We are very enthusiastic about this one and we have one other prospect about 30 minutes away so maybe we'll bounce around until we feel most comfortable with someone. Though tonight seems very promising. Jill made contact with a Sensei who's Dojo is to far from us but he is helping us find our Way.

Here are a few more links for you to peruse:

A Very Brief History of Daito-ryu (http://www.daito-ryu.org/history.html)

A really nice site, with several sub-pages worth reading:
Daito-ryu Aiki Bujutsu (http://www.niagara.com/~zain/html/daitoryu.htm)

Frequently Asked Questions about Aikido (http://www.aikidofaq.com/), another very informative site.

And last, but not least, Aikido.com (http://www.aikido.com/)

That should give you enough reading to keep you busy for a while. :)

Oh, and don't overlook the "Aikido" and "Aikijutsu" forums here on E-Budo. Aikido is listed under Gendai Budo on the main page, and Aikijutsu is listed under Koryu Bujutsu.

You sure? I thought it might be the car driven by the Founder's Korean houseboy. You know, the Aiki Kia.

Thanks everyone for the info it has given me a better understanding of how Aikido was formed. O-Sensei was quite an amazing individual. I have to say I really like his philosophy of non-violent solutions to aggression. I think I found the art for me, definitely.
