I just found out that 7th ID was just activated not to long ago. Are they still Light or are they Mech now?

Roger that, George.

As it turns out, the current ADC-O of 7th ID, was the former 2nd Brigade Commander for the 7th ID back at Fort Ord
(Gen. Ed T. Buckley, Jr., IN). For those who might not remember as well as you, it was at Fort Ord that the "Light" concept first took fruition with the 7th ID. In fact, my current Battalion Commander was a platoon leader in that very division back then.
