Dear all,

This 70 year old Korean lady just gave me a hallowed-out bamboo arrow carrying case. It has cranes and moons on it.

She makes these by hand and HERS has this cool dragon, circling the entire case.

Can anyone recommend a digital camera that is good for pics/movies?
That is easy to use?
That WONT just suck down batteries...

Any advice would be appreciated...

I bought an elf, and it was a piece of crap. Bad pics, too long between shots, and bad indoor focusing. Once it broke, I went for a sony.

I have this one.

Works awesome.

This web site might offer a good comparison for prices http://www.pricewatch.com/
I have used it for years, to research computer & electronic items.

I highly recommend Fuji's 'Finepix' range.

I have been using an Olympus digital D-460, which is very much an old model, for four years, but am still very happy with the results. I use the pictures on all my web sites, as well as taking close ups and pictures of documents. Much easier to photograph pages then to mess with copy machines, not to mention cheaper!

Mark,

I've got the same camera, and also used a D-490 at work for several years as well. for older cameras, they are quite decent. When it comes replacement time, i'll definitely consider another Olympus. mine is hard on batteries, and is a bit flaky in how it handles the smartcards sometimes. thats about all i can say bad about it though.

I've been very pleased with my Canon S50. That model has since been supplanted by the S60/70, but they appear much in the same mold, with incremental improvements.

I have a Canon A75, which I like very much. Tons of features for the price, very nice construction. The movie mode is limited to 30 secs at 640X480 though - the previously mentioned Sony works better but is quite a bit more expensive.

DP Review (http://www.dpreview.com/) and Steve's Digicams (http://www.steves-digicams.com/) are really useful review sites.
