hosting a big event- how to

I wanted to get ssome advice on hosting an event which hopes to bring in about 80 people. Any advice on handling things would be great. it would be a day of seminars by various instructors. Should one expect advance payment, mail tickets, etc. Where would you promote it (besides e-budo of course ) Thank you.
