God...I hate R.E.M. They're just so intensely miserable ...not to mention bland! Sorry.

Rapid Eye Movement is great, I last saw them live during the Green tour...man, talk about showing my age.
The last album I bought was Monster, it was good, some good meaty chops. I haven't really even listened to anything they've done since Bill Berry left, it just really isn't the same.

Agreed, we have all the albums, R.E.M. is my second favorite to the carpenters, third would be the posies.

I, too, last saw REM in 1988. I am an old man. I remember thinking they were better and harder live than I expected them to be from their albums.

REM these days seem a little tired and preachy.
