Dear all,
I have a buddy of mine going to Tokyo.
He's 40, likes to dance, can handle himself and he's looking to see some of Tokyo's night life.
Can anyone recommend anything?
Good bars?
Parties?
Clubs?

Well.. someone here might mention Gas Panic. However I highly suggest he stay away from that tourist trap. It is in Roppongi like most other clubs in Tokyo. Last time I was there I went to a little hole in the wall called:
"Club Isn't It?"
Yeup.. thats what its called. Great place, awesome dancing and the dj could spin better than just about anyone I had ever heard. Open all night, but if i recall, they stop letting people in at 2am. Ohh, and the women there... hot... and they go there specifically to look for single gaijin men. He'll have to ask around for it, but it was worth it.
BTW, dont ask for a good beer, theyll give you a Bud. But they server Heini's, which are good. Drinks are expensive, but they dont have a minimum like a few of the clubs I've heard of. I wish him good luck, the club scene is great in Tokyo.

Castillo's in Roppongi.
Hand the DJ 10,000 Yen, tell him the Senpokan sent you, and you'll own the place.

Roppongi rocks, but he should be a little careful organised crime provides some interesting traps for the unaware, particulary in the red light districts.
He should be careful of the "all you can drink" deals, seemingly nice Japanese girls you meet at bars and those guys with missing fingers.
No doubt he will also encounter a few places that they will not allow non-japanese in.
