I know this is really late as it's been going on for months, but COME ON. Miguzi is possibly the worst thing that has ever happened to television. Sorry for those of you who love it, but I am entitled to my own opinion and I personally think it SUCKS. I'm allowed to say sucks, right? Can we get a moderator over here?

I love a lot of what I perceive to be high quality anime, yet all of it is gone from Toonami. Now it is only on adult swim, which I haven't watched in months due to my new increase in meds (zyprexa, do a search for it if you are curious) - yes, they make me very tired very early, not what I'm used to feeling like. Anway, does anyone else want to take the proverbial head of miguzi and place it on a stick? It'll be fun, trust me! There'll be a nice parade, music, etc. Come on!

Cartoon Network has some serious suck programs out there - I mean really, Ninja Turtles?

Adult Swim and Megas XLR are about the only things worth watching at the moment.

Tonnami does seem in the UK to be going downhill. When it changed from CNX, that would show Asain MA films and some really good kick !!! China Extreme, they changed it to Toonami.

Now they are showing Mucha Lucha, load of Dragaonball and Bayblade. Megas XLR is on at 9:30am. Adult Swim is not here as of yet. Samurai Jack is on late night (after 9PM) and through the night. Even the Big O is on late. All the decent shows that are worth watching are on late and you end up missing them if you don't program the digibox to remind you.

Grim Adventures is fun as well, but most of the good stuff is on late at night. Thankfully, we now have TiVo or their equivalents.

The problem may stem from the fact that while Cartoon Network and the WB used to have different execs, at some point the WB execs took over both networks. So now, Cartoon Network has become a dumping ground for the WB's cartoons. There are still some real gems there, but not as many as there once were.

Do people actually watch Samurai Jack, or is it a British thing?

They need to put Dexter and Johnny Bravo back in regular rotation.

the UK has only just got Pet alien and KND: Kids next door. All the rest are repeats.

Most fellow geeks I know loved Samurai Jack, but it rarely gets any airtime now.

I agree - Johnny Bravo and Dexter were good and would be a welcome replacement for for all the Japanese Pokemon ripoffs. End up watching National Geographic or the History Channel instead.

Who else loves watching the Venture Brothers for their blatent Johnny Quest lampooning? Not to forget "Brock Samson" - the mullet wearing, testosteroned cross between Race Bannon and Doc Samson.

 You are simply incapable of comprehending the genius of the teenage mutant ninja turtles because you are not currently between the ages of 13 and 22 or somewhere there abouts. Its not your fault, that's just the way it is.

I am quite surprised by the work of Genndy Tartakovsky for doing animations of The Powerpuff Girls, Dexters Labratory and Samurai Jack. When I grew up it was Battle of the Planets and silly cartoons like Care bears and Transformers in the 80's. I actually like the cartoon network for some of the programs. Even Maxwell Atoms Grim and Evil and the Grim adventures are all far to comical for the children to uderstand (or do we as adults look into it a bit more than kids?).

Cartoon network is quite often not at all for children.

new increase in meds (zyprexa, do a search for it if you are curious) - yes, they make me very tired very early, not what I'm used to feeling like. oh wow zyprexa i heard it increases risk for diabetes and also makes you heat sensitive.

cartoon network i feel is evolving lets not forget what was on when adult swim first came out. i recall brak show space ghost sealab2021
now it is huge.

i agree toonami was better however as a comicbook fan i find teentitans to be a cool show i wish x-men would be back on.personally
i just buy boxsets of the shows i like so i never have to worry about
what sucks on tv anymore

At the moment I'm watching Invader Zim.

I watch nothing else ;)

CNX was wicked when it was on, class anime, great martials and asian extreme films, shame it had to go...

Oh, and Will? leave Dragonall alone

If it was shown here fully uncut and un dubbed it would probably be a 15 certificate. they cut out 10 minutes out of each episode which should 30 minutes but ends up a 20.

It's very violent and very adult with sexual references, blood, guts and swearing.

When you see some guy getting his arm broken with bones sticking out and then shot in the face you know it's not in the same vien as Poket Monsters ;)

I will convert you yet, it's got some of the best animated fighting ever produced if you can be bothered to wait through the angst :D

If they did bother to show it uncut then I would watch it. Why cut out all of the best bits just so we get a watered down patsy version. I have TV people that think we need to be protected from violence.

Damn you Mary Whithouse.

Because they were scared that all the kids who were watching it would get influenced badly by it.

there are only 3 things on the Cartoon Network that are worth watching... Dexters Labratory, the Powerpuff Girls and Samurai Jack.

Dexter reminds me of 2 friends of mine that I knew through school. One was the nerdy scientific that always experemented and never really got anywhere, while the hair and glasses remind me of another.

Ther Powerpuff Girls always seem to have a theme. One episode they did a program only on the entire lyrics of The Beatles, with a gang caled The Beat Alls. Even the policeman was drawn and sounded like a Yellow Submarine character. They even done a Star Wars spoof.

And Samurai Jack is a good, if drawn out thin plotline. One or two episodes are great to watch. Whoever thought up that mad Scottish bagpipe player with a machine gun for a leg must have had a few dodgy mushrooms. Best line is that one they played a lot on CNX "Oooh, that some tough talk coming from a man that wears a basket on his head". And another is the one where he is taught to jump good while teaching a group of blue monkey things to defend themselves.

Except for Joshua Paszkiewicz, aren't you all a little old to be watching cartoons?

Actually as I had said before in another post in this thread, most of the cartoons are not actually aimed at the kids as such. Some of the cartoons have an adult feel like Batman of the future, Megas XLR, Samurai Jack ETC All have elements of what an adult can sit down and enjoy watching with your children.

Even the Powerpuff Girls with the storyline made with a Beatles twist is more geared for the people that do remember the Beatles. Or the star Wars take with the Death Star type of ending.

Yes we are a bit too old for to be watching cartoons. But you show a kid Legend of the overfiend (a classic Japanese Manga animation) and you will see that cartoons are more for entertainment than the Looney Tunes and the Hanna Babera cartoons of the 1930's to the 1060's which are now classics. Even the film Spirited Away is a go between to the adults and the children. Cartoons are now crossover between generations than the saturday morning shows on TV.

But please, do not mention Pokemon.

That is not as bad as Pokemon, but it is still  .

The only reason Pokemon took off in the UK was the kids TV show SM:TV live on a Saturday morning. They wanted a cheesy animated show that looked bad so they could fill in time while the set was moved, or to give the presenters a break.

Bad choice. It took off. I hate it. It is now on Toonami. Grrr.
