That's a very cool setup! There were a couple of things that seriously disturbed me about the story though. Specifically these three statements (emphasis is mine)...
"Park was given an 11-month jail term by magistrates in Cambridge on Tuesday after admitting burglary."
"Magistrates heard Park, who has more than 13 previous convictions for theft, had stolen computer equipment and other property with a value of nearly £4,000 from Mr Grisby's study."
"He committed the offence in February while on bail after being charged with an attempted burglary in Ely, Cambridgeshire, in August."
Sounds like someone that needs to be shot rather than recorded.

What you on about? That is normal for a career criminal. He was out on bail, maybe needed money for his fix of drugs and stole. Quite normal actions for someone out of a UK prison.

I want the software the guy used to catch the thief.
Is there anyone out there techno savvy enough to know how to set up a system like that?

Hey Greg,
Check this one out ... http://www.gotchanow.com/text/g30f.html
I think even the non-nerdy can get that program up and running.
Cheers,

Yep, and just a couple of years ago, in Wales, a man was given 12 months jail for speeding.
But that's clearly a bigger threat to society than career burglary.

I'd be curious to read about that one, the only jail terms I've heard of in connection with speeding are if there was a death as a result.
I thought it was penalties and fines for speeding.

Custodial sentences for speeding aren't all that uncommon, although they are usually for 3 months.
I think this case dated back to 2000 or 2001. The rider in question had filmed himself riding (and had forgotten to tape over his speedo - silly boy). He wasn't even speeding when he was pulled over for a routine "bike safety check". However the rozzers spotted the camera, and decided to have a look at the tape...
Apparently (according to an article in Performance Bikes), the judge even praised his riding skills, before handing down a custodial sentence.
I can't remember much more - the sentence may well have been reduced on appeal.
There was another chap recently who got three months for speeding at 130+ mph on busy dual carriageways in his BMW car. No-one was injured in that case either.
When I get chance, I'll do a websearch for the details.

Indeed, the number of people run over and killed by burglars in the UK is outrageous :p
