I think that this sort of thread belongs in the Sword Arts forum. The Baffling Budo forum is for people who have raised concerns. If that is the case, please make detailed comments...
Also please note that all posts must be accompanied by your full real name (as described in the login info). This can be entered into a "signature" which will be added automatially to each post.

I used to train Ryu Sei Ken , & can tell you what I was told . Saruta Soke trained since he was young in Kendo , & Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu , he also trained w/ Nakamura Soke , & was supposed to be the Ni Dai Soke of Nakamura Ryu . However , he did have a falling out w/ Nakamura , & is no longer associated w/ that group . So he had broke off , & created Ryu Sei Ken . Here is the Hombu's site , if you are interested : http://www2.odn.ne.jp/ryuseiken/

Whoops sorry bout that. OK here is some info I really should of included.

The reason for me asking is becuse the RyuSeiKen style of Kenjutsu/battojutsu (Confuzzeled) was becuse it was being taught at a dojo that teaches *GULP* Tatsu-Do.
Thankfully, RyuSeiKen did not come from "Soke" William R. Cavalier. It is taught in our dojo by Marco-sensei and Hillman-sensei.
So in short I'm asking is RyuSeiKen is liget

PS - Sory for the confusion. Please forgive my stupidity

I'd definately say Saruta Soke is legit , however the current leadership in the US is lead by a Charaltan , that doesnt give a darn about your well being , so long as you keep paying . Just be cautious ! I've found that alot of people within the iai/batto do instructors in the US are egomaniacs , that treat their students as if their dog . I've even seen one that posted rules saying dont talk to the Sensei , dont go near him , if he comes walking towards you walk around him . They think their God . I dont know where they get that attitude from , I've met his instructors , & they seem very nice in comparison .

Luck me. The instructors here are very kind and polite. ^o^
Marco-sensei looks like grease-lightning (inside joke)

Folks:
I trained with Saruta Mitsuhiro when he was a Hachidan under Nakamura Taizaburo Sensei. He was a great kata teacher and probably the finest cutter to come from that style. He and I taught seminars in Ryuseiken at the dojo(s) mentioned and Tim Hillman, traveled long distances for years to train in Ryuseiken. I believe Tim got a Sandan in Ryuseiken from Saruta Sensei.

Saruta Sensei was hamon'd by Nakamura Sensei for reasons known only to them, the rest is speculation. I stayed with Nakamura Sensei, that's also between Nakamura Sensei's heirs, Saruta Sensei and me.

Luis Santos is now Saruta's rep here in the States. There is a direct student of Saruta Sensei's (John McGraw), who studied for many years in Japan, that teaches in Tucson, Az. John is a very good practitioner and teacher.

I think this should be in the sword arts forum, it will get a better response there..... if it is found to be wanting of the baffling title (from what has been said so far I would think it probably doesn't) then the mod over there can just move it back ;)
