OSAKA-Having settled the compensation for pupils killed or seriously injured in a 2001 stabbing attack at Ikeda Elementary School, the school authorities have turned to resolving the "mental injuries'' inflicted in the incident....The university, then a state-run institution, has admitted its failure to prevent such an attack...School officials said some of the fifth and sixth graders who lost their classmates still cry in the classroom when the attack is mentioned. Some are still unable to go out alone.
