Has anyone had any experience with e-bogu.com? I ordered an iaido that i was told would arrive in 4-6 weeks, its now been over 2 months with still no iaido. They are not answering my emails, and i dont know what to think.

We ordered bogu from them a couple of months ago on different occasions and had them within a week. I have been very happy with their service.

i have purchased my hakama's and my keogi's from them and also several carbon shanai's and kendo equipment in the past ive found for the hakama's the quality for the price can't be beaten. The iaido sword 's are reasonable but the carbon shanai's ive had my 3 one katana two waki size for 6yrs and they have taken any punishment ive given them and they still are in great condition ive never had to replace a split at all and they offer oval handle to the normal round. The oval is more effective and has a better feel also they have an amazing balance. As for all there clothing if you give them your measurements they will make them acordingly at no extra charge to you.i ve purchased thru e-bogu before and yes there prices on most are lower but in my opnion so is the quality.

Personally, I have never had a problem with E-Bogu. My orders have arrived within 1 to 2 days after placing the order (but, I only live 400 miles away). All the items I ordered were in-stock. Iaito orders have been taking increasingly long no matter who you order from. One person at my dojo waited 6 1/2 months for his iaito from Tozando.

Thats the downer about this situtation. I was going to get one from Tonzando, but i needed the iaido by a certain date (which is about to pass) so i went with e-bogu for the time they could offer. They fianlly got back to me and said they still do not have it, and it should be in their next shipment from Japan, and they will overnite it as soon as it arrives. It was only concerning me because i was getting no response to my emails. Thanks for the info about eguchi.com, my next investment is ganna be a new hakama.
Thanks again!

Just a short note on waiting for iaito.
At the moment, the entire industry is experiencing quite a backlog. It has been this way for over a year now. The Japanese sword arts are greatly increasing in popularity around the world, and there are only a few companies that manufacture iaito for all of the different stores. In addition, there was a problem with obtaining properly aged honoki saya. Therefore, all of the iaito manufacturers are experiencing quite a bit of delay in filling orders. If you are lucky, you can get one that happens to be in stock. If not, it can take quite a while to have one made.
Had this from one of the outlet's owners recently. Just thought I'd pass it on.
Cheers,

If you need a iaito in a hurry, best to settle for one that is in stock. So whatever supplier you order from, just ask for an in-stock model. Of course you have to be not so fussy about menuki and so forth but... Swordstore has a few in-stock here (http://www.swordstore.com/cgi-bin/htmlos.cgi/0046.3.3324254811196912756), if you're looking for a 2.45 or 2.50 you're in luck.

Yep. I'm still waiting on one I ordered in mid-April.
Since it's a 2.65 w/ 30cm tsuka and leather tsukaito I knew I'd have to be patient, but I am getting a bit antsy since I paid full price in advance.
Once before there was a delay on a sword I ordered, but that company, Bugei Trading, had me place a 20% deposit. They then e-mailed me when it arrived on our shores, and I paid the balance and they shipped it to me.
Oh well. Fretting won't get it in my hands any sooner, so I'll just choose not to.

Hey Brian,
Who did you order through? One of my guys ordered a custom job like that through Swordstore last year, and it took almost 7 months to get it. It was worth the wait though, very nicely done!
Oops! Just read the other thread so ignore my question here! :)

7 months!!!
I was told 8 - 12 weeks but, due to the problems Neil alluded to, I now have no idea. I hope it's not going to be 7 months (or more), but if it is I'll just consider it a birthday (November) or Christmas present to myself.
The glass is half full, and all that.

Following the excellent advice from Mr. Gendzwill, I called and spoke to Jermey at e-bogu. He explained the entire situation. There was another mix up and my sword was not sent next day. After a long converstion he worked it out to give me a $25 refund for the problems. All in all it was a rocky experience but I will definetly continue business with e-bogu, accidents happen, but its what you do after them that counts.
Thanks for all the advice/info, and definetly don't let this presuade you from ordering from e-bogu( just incase someone reads this to find a good online
shop).

er...guys, what's up with eguchi.com?
I visit the website, saw only the front welcome page with a counter, no links for me to enter?

The plot thickens.
I recieve the package last nite, but its not an katana, is a 42.5cm waka. So i email Jermey asking whats going on, then i call him today. It turns out that somehow my girl friend, who placed the order, ordered the wrong sword. I was a bit confused because the name is exactly the same, the picture is exactly the same...in fact its on the same page of their site! The only way to know would be the size select drop down list. Even the description at the bottom does not compensate for the waka in the list. 880kg etc. Now, i need to work with Jeremy to find out how to get this all sorted out.
